5 Anime You Should Be Watching: Fall 2018

This season is packed full with entertaining anime to watch, but there’s only so much time in the day! Therefore, I’ve narrowed down five anime that you should be watching for this Fall 2018 season (No sequels).

5. Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai

What a name. In this light novel adaptation from CloverWorks, our star crossed high school lovers suffer from a condition called “puberty syndrome”. An infliction that causes supernatural events to occur due to the instability during adolescence.  This time a second year student, Sakuta Azusagawa, meets Mai Sakurajima who is invisible to everyone because of this “puberty syndrome”.

The show is a lot stronger than you might believe with such an obscure title and plot. The main characters, while a little emotionless at times, give off a strong sense of identity. It has clear direction and poses a unique relationships between the cast.

Bunnysenpai

4. That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime

Again. What a name. A story about a 37 year old virgin, Satoru Mikami, who who killed by a passing robber while walking with his friends. As he dies he wishes to reborn as everything he wasn’t during his life and awakens as “Rimuru Tempest”, a slime in a new fantasy world. This season is chock full of isekai anime and this one stands out as the most unique.

Slime

3. Skull-Face Bookseller Honda-san

Three for three with these names. This anime is charming in every sense of the word and I really wanted to give it my number one spot. The only reason I didn’t was because of how niche it is. For only ten minutes a week you can watch Honda-san, a knowledgeable and kind hearted skeleton,  give accurate and serious answers to the customer needs at the local book store he works at.

As I’m writing this there are only two episodes out thus far, so it might sound like I’m jumping the gun. However, this show has failed to not put a smile on my face and I can’t see it disappointing me going further.

Skullface

2. Zombie Land Saga

If you know nothing about this anime I recommend going in blind!

A show that hid itself as a typical high school slice of life anime up until its release turned into a group of zombie girls working together to become popular idols and revive the popularity of the Saga district in Japan.

This show is 100 percent like no other zombie anime we’ve seen and deserves to praised for that alone. Being able to deliver a fresh take on a genre that was otherwise repetitive. Each girl has a unique personality and together they deliver a heavy comedic punch.

Saga

1. Run with the Wind

If you’ve seen prince of stride and steered away from Production I.G.’s Run with the Wind, please don’t. The studio that brought us Haikyuu! is back with this season sports anime Run with the Wind.  It is about ten university males who accept boarding with fourth-year Kiyose Haiji (the best character ever written) because of the cheap rent and free dinner. What they didn’t know is that by accepting boarding they also signed up for being memeber of the Kansei University track and field team.

This show has such a lovable cast, which makes up for the premise being about running (not the most exciting sport ever). It’s even starring our favorite stone faced, all work no play, Kageyama To- I mean Kurahara Kakeru … no seriously, the similarity between those two is damn near identical.

I really love sports anime if you couldn’t tell.
